Morning ma brother~! 오늘은 조니뎁이 나온 영화 Once upon a time in Mexico를 보면서 For/during/while같은 '사건이 일어났던 동안'이라는 preposition(전치사)에 대해 알아볼 거야.
1. for(~동안) & during(~동안)
for + a period of time to say how long something goes on; 사건이 이루어졌던 기간에 대한 것
◎ 먼저 예를 들면 "for two hours", "for a month", "for ages"같은 것들이 있어. 어떻게 말 하는지 보자.
● 우리는 지난 밤 두 시간들 동안 TV를 시청했어.
= We watched TV for two hours last night.
● 넌 그 주말 동안 멀리 갈 거니?
= Are you going away for the weekend?
● 너 어디 있어온거야? 나 오랫동안 기다리고 있어 왔다고!!!
= Where have you been? I've been waiting for ages!!!
during + noun(명사) to say when something happens (not how long); Noun(명사)로써 표현해 대상화한 어떤 사건 동안
◎ during은 이렇게 쓸 수 있어; "during the movie", "during our holiday", "during the night"
● Johnny: 나 분노의 질주 9 봐왔는데 나 정말로 내 눈들을 뗄 수 없었단말야. 그 영화 동안!!!
= I've seen Fast and Furious 9 and I really couldn't take my eyes off during the movie!!!
● Johnny with his wife: 그래, 한 반년 정도 동안말야... 우린 우리의 신혼여행동안 많은 나라들에 있어 왔어.
= Yeah, for about half a year... We've been a lot of countries during our honeymoon.
● 그 땅은 젖어있어. 그 밤 동안 비가 와 왔음에 틀림없어.
= The ground is wet. It must have rained during the night.
2. during(~동안) & while(~인 동안)
◎ while도 during이랑 의미가 같지만 문장에서의 구조는 달라.
during + Noun(명사)
● 우린 우리의 신혼여행동안 많은 좋은 사람들을 만났어.
= We met a lot of good people during our honeymoon.
while + Subjective(주어) + Verb(동사)
● 우리는 우리가 신혼여행에 있던 동안 많은 좋은 사람들을 만났어.
= We met a lot of good people while we were on our honeymoon.
3. Once upon a time in Mexico(죠니 뎁, 안토니오 반델라스)_ 자네는 배릴로 카르텔 대학살 동안 멕시코에 있었나?
● One eyed man to Jonny depp: 내가 그 자가 아닌 한 서론을 말해야겠지. 자네는 그 Barillo 카르텔 대학살 동안 멕시코 안에 있었나?
= As long as I'm not the guy that has to make the introduction. Were you in Mexico during the Barillo cartel massacre?
