이번엔 To-Infinitive 즉, To-부정사중 Infinitive에 대해 더 알아보겠습니다.

 

1. What is 'Infinitive(부정사)'?

◎ Infinitive(부정사)는 특정 동사 형태를 가리키는 언어학 용어이고, 대화나 문장 내에 등장하는 시간적 정보에 따라 그 형태가 변하게 되는 준동사로 쓰이게 됩니다. 영어의 전통적인 설명에서 부정사는 to라는 불변화사가 있든 없든 간에 비정형적으로 사용될 때 동사의 기본적인 사전적 형태(영어판)이다. 따라서 to go는 "I must go there"와 같은 문장의 go와 마찬가지로 부정사 입니다.

◎ Infinitive 즉, 부정사는 무한을 의미하는 infinitus의 파생어인 후기 라틴어(영어판)의 īnfīnītīvus (infinitivus)에서 유래되었습니다.

◎ Infinitive (abbreviated inf) is a linguistics term for certain verb forms existing in many languages, most often used as non-finite verbs. As with many linguistic concepts, there is not a single definition applicable to all languages. The word is derived from Late Latin [modus] infinitivus, a derivative of infinitus meaning "unlimited".
