# 아포스트로피: 아포스트로피(apostrophe, ’또는')는 인용 부호의 하나이며, 로마자 등의 알파벳에서는 발음 구별 기호로 쓰이기도 한다. 소유격의 표시(이를테면 cat's whiskers)를 위해서 사용되는 경우도 있다. Ref.Wikipedia
What up JAY~~~ This is me! You, Jay's brother! 오늘은 이렇게 Apostrophe(')가 붙는 Possessive(소유격)에 대해 알아볼 거야.
1. 대개, 나 또는 너를 제외한 사람들이나 동물들에 붙는 apostrophe + s('s)로 possessive(소유격)을 말하자.
● Chisolm의 총은 작동하고 있지 않아.
= Chisolm's gun isn't working. (= not the gun of Chisolm)
● 그 남자의 아들은 어디있지?
= Where is the man's son?
◎ 이미 앞서 대상이 등장했다면 -'s의 뒤엔 그 대상을 더 언급하지 않아도 돼. 예를 들어 보자.
● 이건 내 말이 아니야. 그것은 내 남자아이(부하, 아들 etc.)의 것이지.
= This isn't my horse. It's my boy's. (= my boy's book)
2. 보통 -'s는 singular nouns(단수 명사들) 뒤에 붙어 다녀.
◎ my sister's room은 her room 즉, 한 명의 여자 형제를 일컬어. 예를 더 들어보자. 그리고 apostrophe(')가 붙는 대상이 plural(복수)일 때는 대개, -s' 의 형태가 돼.
● 내 여자아이의 방
= my girl's room
● 내 여자아이들의 방
= my girls' room (= two or more girls)
● 그 Stark들의 집 (= 둘이 부부일때)
= the Starks' house (= their house - Mr and Mrs Stark)
◎ 그 외에도 대상의 종류를 다양하게 두고 쓸 수 있어. 예를 들면 정부라던지, 날짜 개념에라든지.
● 난 그 정부의 결정을 좋아하지 않아. (= 맘에 안들어)
= I don't like the government's decision. (= the decision of the government)
● 너 아직 어제의 신문 가지고 있어?
= Do you still have yesterday's newspaper?
3. Magnificent 7_ 덴젤 워싱턴: 사람을 하나 찾고 있소. 소작농과 그 남자의 아들을 잔인하게 죽였다지...

◎ 또 다른 예를 들어볼게
● Anwar Jibawi: 이봐, Amanda의 모든 친구들은 내 친구들이야.
= Hey, all of Amanda's friends are my friends.
