# Relative clauses: Relative clauses in the English language are formed principally by means of relative pronouns. The basic relative pronouns are who, which, and that; who also has the derived forms whom and whose. Ref.Wikipedia
# 관계절: 관계절은 주절의 명사구를 꾸미는 종속절이다. 이때 관계절의 꾸밈을 받는 요소를 관계절의 선행사라 한다. 관계절의 주된 기능은 선행사의 지시를 제한하는 것이다. Ref.Wikipedia
Morgen, Mein Bruder! Wie geht es dir? Ich bin gut! 오늘은 내 최애 영웅, Steve Jobs도 녹음했던 Apple 광고 'Here's to the crazy ones'를 들어 볼 거야.
1. Relative clauses(관계절들)을 말하는 두 가지 방법 | Person or things that are already been known or not.
◎ Relative clauxes(관계절들)을 말하는 방법 두 가지를 먼저 알아보자. 하나는 대상이 어떤 사람이나 그 외 다른 것인지 설명하는 것(what kind of person or thing you speak)이고, 또 다른 방법은 이미 알려진 대상에 대해 정보를 더 주는 것이랑 같아. 한번 비교하면서 보자.
1.a. Relative clauses(관계사절) tell you which person or thing the speaker means.
● 옆집에 사는 그 여자애는 한 의사야.
= The girl who lives next door is a doctor.
● Andy Hertzfeld는 몇몇의 IT기기들을 만드는 한 회사를 위해 일해.
= Andy Hertzfeld works for a company that makes some IT stuffs.
1.b. Relative clauses(관계사절) tell you about the objects you already know but it's not being used to tell you which person or thing the speaker meant.
● 내 남형제 Justin Sun, Hong Kong안에 사는, 한 프로그래머이다. (= 홍콩에 사는 내 동생 저스틴 선은 프로그래머야.)
= My brother Justin Sun, who lives in Hong Kong, is a programmer.
● Dan Larimer는 내게 그의 새로운 프로젝트에 대해 말했어. 그가 많이 즐기고 있는 무엇. (= 댄 라리머는 그가 재밌어하는 새 프로젝트에 대해 말해줬어.)
= Dan Larimer told me about his new project, which he's enjoying a lot.
2. Appendix of Relative Clauses(관계사절 부록); whom(누구)/whose(누구의 것)/where(어디).
◎ 특별한 사항은 아니지만 relative clauses(관계사절들)에 대해서 추가적으로 더 짚고 넘어가 볼까 하는 것들도 있어.
● 오늘 아침 난 Jenny를 만났어. 내가 오랫동안 보지 않아 왔었던 누구. (= 오랫동안 못봤던 Jenny를 만났어.)
= This morning I met Jenny, whom I hadn't seen for ages.
◎ 여기서 볼 수 있듯이 사람에 대한 relative clause(관계사절)로 "whom"을 사용할 수 있는데, 이때, 대상은 Object(목적어)로써 등장해.
● 우린 몇몇의 사람들을 만났어. 차가 망가져 왔었던 누구의. (= 우린 부서진 차주들을 만났어.)
= We met some people whose car had broken down.
● 그 장소의 그 이름은 뭐야? 너가 휴일에 갔던 어디. (= 너 휴일에 갔던데 이름이 뭐야?)
= What's the name of the place where you went on holiday?
3. Apple(애플)-Here's to the crazy ones(1997)/미친자들을 위해 축배를... Steve Jobs: 사람들이 그들을 미쳤다고 할때, 우린 그들의 천재성을 봅니다.
● 왜냐하면, 그들이 그 세상을 바꿀 수 있다고 믿을 정도로 미친 그 사람들은 그렇게 하는 자들 이기 때문입니다.
= Because the people who are crazy enough to think that they could change the world are the ones who do.
