# Comparison: Comparison is a feature in the morphology or syntax of some languages whereby adjectives and adverbs are inflected to indicate the relative degree of the property they define exhibited by the word or phrase they modify or describe.Ref.WIKIPEDIA

Morgen!! 오늘은 Comparative(비교급)에 대해 알아보는 마지막 시간이야. 비교하는 대상보다 "더 ~하다"는 말도 있고, "[대상]만큼 ~하다"라고도 말 하기도 해. 한번 보자!

1. as ... as / not as ... (as) / not so... (as) / less ... than

◎ Story of Connie and Nick Nikas and Corey - Connie, Nick, and Corey are all very rich. Connie has 20 million dollars, Nick has &15 million and Corey has &10 million. So... Nick is rich.

● Nick은 Corey보다 더 부유해. 하지만 그는 Connie만큼 부유하지는 않아.

= Nick is richer than Corey. But he isn't as rich as Connie. (= Connie is richer than he is)

 

not as ... (as) / not so ... (as) | ~만큼 ~하지 않아. / ~만큼 그렇게 ~하지 않아.

● Kay는 그가 보이는 만큼 나이들지는 않았어.

= Kay isn't as old as he looks. (= he looks older than he is)

● 난 너가 그렇게 하는 만큼 많은 사람들을 알고 있지 않아. (= 난 너만큼 사람을 많이 알지는 못해.)

= I don't know as many people as you do. (= you know more people than me)

● 따뜻하진 않은데, 어제만큼 그렇게 춥지도 않아.

= It's not warm, but it isn't so cold as yesterday. (= it isn't as cold as ...)

 

less ... than은 not as ... as랑 비슷해

● 난 너보다 더 적은 돈을 썼어.

= I spent less money than you. (= I didn't spend as much money as you)

 

2. Comparative(비교급) with as(~만큼) and than(~보다)

◎ as ... as 는 긍정문들이나 질문들에서도 쓸 수 있어.

● 미안 나 늦었지. 나 여기 내가 할 수 있던 한 빠르게 왔어.

= I'm sorry I'm late. I got here as fast as I could.

● 당신은 가능한 한 빨리 그 정보를 제게 보내 주실 수 있겠습니까? 제발.

= Can you send me the information as soon as possible, please?

 

◎ Than me / than I am etc. 직접 사용해 보자.

● 넌 나보다 더 작아.

= You're shorter than me.

= You're shorter than I am.

● 난 그들 보다 훨씬 더 많은 돈을 가지고 있어.

= I have much more money than them.

= I have much more money than they have.
